Switching from an antiperspirant to an aluminium-free product changes two things: you begin sweating normally again, and your underarm microbiome is exposed to a different environment.
This is not a “detox”. Your underarms are not removing stored toxins. The product has simply stopped reducing perspiration, while the bacterial community responsible for body odour may respond to the new routine.
Understanding this difference makes the transition much easier.
What changes when you stop using an antiperspirant?
Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to form temporary deposits in the upper part of the sweat ducts. This reduces the amount of sweat reaching the skin.
When you stop using one, these deposits gradually disappear and normal perspiration returns. You may therefore notice wetter underarms, especially during hot weather, exercise or stress.
This does not mean that the new product is making you sweat more. It means that your previous product was suppressing some of the sweat.
An aluminium-free deodorant or anti-odorant controls odour but does not prevent wetness.
What happens to the underarm microbiome?
Body odour is created when bacteria break down components of sweat into volatile, odorous molecules.
Antiperspirants, deodorants, washing habits and skincare products can all influence the bacterial community living in the underarms. When you stop one product and begin another, the environment on the skin changes.
The smell may improve quickly, fluctuate or take longer to stabilise. There is no universal one- or two-week transition period that applies to everyone.
Your starting microbiome, previous products, hormones, stress, clothing and the intensity of the original body odour can all affect the process.
Natural deodorant and ZINDEO are not the same thing
Many natural deodorants provide short-term odour control. Some use fragrance to cover the smell, while others rely on baking soda or antimicrobial ingredients.
ZINDEO is a microbiome-focused anti-odorant. It is designed to influence the underarm bacterial community over time rather than merely mask odour after it appears.
The ZINDEO routine does not contain antiperspirant aluminium salts, baking soda or added perfume. Natural perspiration continues while the products target the microbial process responsible for unpleasant odour.
Begin with clean, dry skin
Old antiperspirant, deodorant, oils and dead skin can accumulate in the underarm area. Proper cleansing prepares the skin for the new routine.
Use SALSOAP® during your evening shower:
-
Wet the underarms with warm water.
-
Create a creamy lather.
-
Leave the foam on the skin for approximately 30 seconds.
-
Rinse thoroughly.
-
Dry the underarms completely.
SALSOAP® prepares the skin but does not replace an anti-odorant. It should be followed by the roll-on, cream or both, depending on the routine you choose.
Apply ZINDEO in the evening
ZINDEO products are preferably applied in the evening, when the skin is clean and sweating is usually lower.
Evening application also gives the product time to absorb before you put on daytime clothing. This reduces the risk of temporary white traces on dark fabrics.
Use a thin, even layer. Applying more product does not automatically improve the result.
During the first three months, follow the routine consistently every day. This gives the underarm microbiome time to respond and makes it possible to evaluate whether the routine is working for you.
Choose the right ZINDEO set
DAILY SET: the simplest routine
The DAILY SET combines SALSOAP® with the fragrance-free Anti-odorant Roll-On.
Choose it if:
-
your body odour is mild or moderate,
-
you want a quick and simple application,
-
you prefer a roll-on,
-
you have unshaved underarms,
-
you are switching from a conventional antiperspirant without a long history of persistent odour.
The roll-on contains 15% alcohol and may sting on freshly shaved or irritated skin.
RESET SET START: soap and the strongest cream
RESET SET START combines SALSOAP® with the Anti-odorant Cream.
Choose it if:
-
you prefer a cream,
-
your skin does not tolerate alcohol-based roll-ons,
-
you want the product with the strongest and longest clinically tested effect,
-
you want a two-step routine without the roll-on.
Only a small amount of cream is required.
RESET SET MAX: the complete routine
Reset Set MAX combines SALSOAP®, the roll-on and the cream.
Choose it if:
-
body odour is strong or persistent,
-
ordinary deodorants repeatedly fail,
-
the smell returns quickly after washing,
-
you have experienced the problem for a long time,
-
you want to begin with the complete ZINDEO routine.
MAX is not necessary for everyone. It is the most appropriate starting point when the problem is more pronounced.
What should you expect during the first three months?
Some people notice a reduction in odour within days. Others need several weeks of consistent use.
During the first three months:
-
continue applying the selected anti-odorant daily,
-
use it on clean and completely dry skin,
-
do not judge its performance by wetness,
-
avoid layering it over old product or sweat,
-
contact ZINDEO if the odour remains unchanged or becomes stronger.
The purpose of the three-month routine is not to wait passively for a “detox” to finish. It is to use the products consistently while the underarm microbiome responds to the new environment.
What happens after three months?
Once body odour is consistently under control, begin increasing the interval between applications.
Try using ZINDEO every second evening. If the result remains stable, move to every third evening.
Many long-term users find that missing one, two or even three applications does not cause the odour to return immediately. The final frequency is individual: use the lowest frequency that continues to control your body odour reliably.
If the smell begins to return, temporarily increase the frequency again.
You will still sweat
ZINDEO does not promise dry underarms. It is not an antiperspirant.
The fragrance-free Anti-odorant Cream was clinically tested in a split-underarm study. Compared with the untreated underarm, the treated side showed:
-
92% lower odour intensity after 24 hours,
-
significant odour reduction after 48 hours,
-
a measurable effect lasting up to 72 hours after one application.
The study measured odour control, not sweat reduction.
A different goal, not a weaker product
Switching from an antiperspirant does not mean accepting body odour. It means separating two different goals.
Antiperspirants reduce sweat. ZINDEO allows sweat to continue while working with the underarm microbiome to control the smell it can produce.
For strong, persistent odour or repeated failure with conventional products, begin with the complete routine.
